Lighting and Outlet Upgrades and Fire Alarm Replacement

When the owners of Springfield Mall in northern Virginia chose to renovate the shopping area as the Springfield Town Center, Power Solutions was chosen as the electrical contractor for the Macy’s part of the project which involved the installation of thousands of feet of new track lighting, other ceiling fixtures and display accessories. The store also called for upgrading floor outlets and display lighting into areas previously used for offices and storage.

During the course of the work the owner decided to perform a major fire alarm upgrade so Power Solutions’ Fire Alarm/Life Safety Division was brought in to install brand new alarm controls and boosters, notification devices and wiring that interfaces with the HVAC system.

Much of the work had to be done in sections of the store that were in use during business hours. By working off-hours and nights and running double shifts as needed, Power Solutions was able to complete its work—including the fire alarm system upgrade—within its original six-month schedule.

The result is a more inviting store. Macy’s at Springfield Town Center now receives compliments on its “sparkling” interior. As Power Solutions finalizes the last details of its renovations, including new main restrooms, the store will continue to shine.
